Jojoba oil is an organic oil derived from the jojoba seed. It is said to believe that this oil has many great benefits for all hair types, such as:
· Moisturizing the hair
· Soothes dry, itchy scalp
· Strengthens hair
· Prevents hair loss
· Tames dryness and frizz.
I personally use the NOW Foods Solutions brand and I have to say this oil is one of my favorites. It is very lightweight and non-greasy, which I love. I hate my hair being weighed-down and oily feeling. Yuck! It also doesn’t have much of a smell when first applied, another plus for me. I also like how easily this oil washes out of my hair. I typically use this oil when I am re-moisturizing a style during the week. It gives a nice, healthy shine to my hair. I have also used this oil when doing the LCO (leave-in, cream, oil) method and also on some of my twist-out styles and I loved the results.
Of course, with the good comes the bad. Well not really, I only have one issue with this product. So I mentioned how it doesn’t have much of a smell when first applied, which is true. But after the second or third time of applying this product I start to notice a very hard to describe smell. It doesn’t stink but it also doesn’t smell good. It’s kind of like an outdoors kind of smell. You guys get what I mean.
Now although I do like this oil and it has become a staple in my regimen, I do want to point out that this oil does NOT soothe my itchy scalp, prevents hair loss, or tames my dryness and frizz! Lol. To be honest I am unclear if it’s even strengthening my hair either.
For my hair, it is just a good moisturizer. Some added shine. That’s it.
