Winter & My Hair Are Not The Best Of Friends!

Happy Sunday!

These last few days have been super busy for me. Between work and school I have not been able to give my hair the attention it so desperately was crying for. It’s okay. I gave her extra love and attention today, lol.

Working Hard or Hardly Working? LOL

I am convinced my hair just does not like the winter weather. I can usually moisturize on day 1 and then not have to do a full re-moisturizing again until day 3 or 4. But in this weather, I can moisturize my hair day 1 and by the end of day 1 my scalp is as dry as a desert.

I don’t even want to get into the dandruff flakes I get in the winter. It gets so bad i nearly cry sometimes lol.

Luckily, I still have in the braids that I showed you guys in my Holiday Hair post. This style at least keeps my hair kind of tucked away and not directly exposed to the harsh climate.

So now I am on the hunt for a winter time hair routine. My regular routine is not standing a chance to the 5 degree temperatures.

Do you have a winter hair routine? Or does your regular routine works well year round?

Let me know below!

The winter and my hair don’t get along very well either. This is the only time of year where I have to keep it in twists or some other protective style in order to keep it from being a dried up mess lol. Usually I wash and deep condition my hair on Sundays and then twist it using a leave-in and a moisturizer. I keep the twists in until like Wednesday or Thursday which is when I’ll co-wash and then twist it again. Finding a great moisturizer is the key to success.

    1. Thank you. My hair dries up so bad in the winter. All my hard work keeping it soft and manageable just goes out the window this time of year. I am learning that my hair loves thicker products in the winter so I’m in the process of creating a winter time routine!

lol. I know exactly what you mean. When you get it figured out I would love to know what your winter time routine is!

  2. Can you winterize your hair like a car or a house? Just kidding.

    1. Haha if only it were that simple.

  3. Hey curly friend, Happy New Year! The winter weather is Brutal where I live. Suggestions: Change your hair products, do for more creamy, possibly thicker products (apply a little to hair). Next, maybe go for more enrich gels (how about trying a mousse) and always wear a leave in conditioner under your gels. Thirdly, use hair butters on ends and rub oils in your hair. Ever so often sprints (not drench) water over your hair at night before tying up at night follow with an oil or butter. Locks in moisture

    1. Happy new year to you as well! Thank you for this. Typically i can get my regular routine to work year round for me. This winter my hair just isn’t having it. I will try this and let you know how it goes! Thanks again
