How I Lost 25lbs By 2weeks Postpartum

Although pregnancy is a beautiful thing, it can be very taxing on the body.

My stomach stretched more then I ever thought it was capable of.

I also became the heaviest I had ever been.

Surprisingly, I was able to lose 25lbs by 2 weeks postpartum!

Pre-pregnancy Weight: 154lbs

Pregnancy Weight: 175lbs

2 Weeks Postpartum Weight: 150lbs

*once you deliver your baby and placenta that automatically starts to lower the number on the scale*

How I did it:

1. Drink Water- I made sure to stay well hydrated. I drank mainly water. About 12 glasses a day. When I got tired of plain water I would opt for flavored water, like Propel, or I would add a lemon to my water bottle. Staying hydrated allowed my body to release the extra water weight instead of holding on to it.

2. Pump/Breastfeed- breastfeeding/pumping can burn up to an extra 500 calories a day. Your body is burning calories in order to produce the milk you need for your baby. Even if you don’t exclusively breastfeed and want to supplement with formula I would deff give this a try just to burn those extra calories!

3. Walk- After having a C-section, I obviously wasn’t cleared for exercise so soon after delivery. However, I made it a point to get up and walk when I could. It didn’t matter if it was just a walk to the mailbox, or up and down the steps, I made sure to just walk. Don’t overdue it. Listen to your body. You may have some discomfort but shouldn’t be in excruciating pain. Rest when needed. I feel that walking also helped with my recovery. The more I kept moving, the better I felt. I was doing laundry and cooking (in moderation) by 9 days postpartum.

4. Reach for healthy snacks- This is easier said then done, I know. I stocked my house with a lot of healthy quick snacks prior to my C-section. I knew I needed things that I could grab quick but still healthy. I chose things like apples, granola bars, mixed nuts, and fruit cups. Since you may not be up to getting a workout in just yet, filling up on snacks with empty calories, like chips, may not be the best idea.

Keep in mind that everyone’s body is different. Some woman can snap back with little to no effort and others may have to work on it. And that’s ok.

I have heard that maintaining a workout routine during your pregnancy makes it easier to lose the weight after delivery as well. However, I did not maintain a workout routine so I can not speak to how true this is, but it makes perfect sense.

My goal is to lose about 5 more pounds but we will see how that goes lol.
